Inclusive: Montserrat is open-hearted in interesting ways…Folks here want to share with others the beauty of the island, along with their personal take on life. It seems to be a joy to do it! Montserrat includes the visitor, who is embraced by the general warmth of folks here. Despite the fact that 2/3 of the island is an “Exclusion Zone,” there is still room to explore, mountain trails, off-road and under-sea adventures… Not to mention the adventures into imagination and the creative process, that the peace and beauty here afford! This is why we have so many creative people here!
Exclusive: At this point in time and space, one must really want to come here in order to get here. This kind of weeds out the unconscious traveller. (Yes, they do exist.) Even cruise ship passengers can choose to go with the capitalistic, cookie-cutter cruise ship plans for a tour…or think outside the box and go with someone like Sun at www.montserratislandtours.com and get a truly unique, heart-touching, and mind-expanding experience!
Why one must really want to be here to get here is summed up in the existing access situation, which is…challenging. Being a glass half-full type of person, I simply MUST choose to believe that this is a temporary situation. (The ferry was stopped cuzzuv covid. And it’s been a much bigger deal than anticipated to get one again, now that our borders have re-opened. The post-eruption/evacuations airport was put in the wrong place, with no room to lengthen the runway to land bigger planes that accommodate more than 7 people per trip. Yes, this was incredibly and embarrassingly short-sighted, but here we are.) The silver lining – which I am driven to seek? Montserrat has become excusive to special people who really want to come here…because it is very unique and special! Montserrat is NOT a cookie-cutter island, where one sits on a chaise, on a freshly raked white sand beach, cocktail-with-pink umbrella in hand, and waives her hand to summon a waiter for a refill. Nope. Montserrat is not that! But what this island IS, is genuine refreshment from the inside out. A peaceful place to relax, rejuvenate and listen… for the Little Inside Voice to lead with whatever next steps in life should be taken.
Gingerbread Hill: Gingerbread Hill is truly unique. Different from any other place to stay on the island. While each of our four lodgings is private and self-catering, we are always on the property to help, if help is needed. To answer questions in real time. To share whatever we know and tell our guests where to find answers that we don’t know. It is comfy, like home. Has fiber optic, good, fast wifi. It is quiet and peaceful and beautiful with some of the very best views on the island. We’ve lived here for almost 43 years and have poured our hearts into taming parts of this hillside and leaving parts still wild. We have gardens and fruit trees and a pool with sweet, soft water. And happy hens that lay delicious eggs. And cooling Trade Winds. And lots of love and gratitude! We feel blessed and we love to share the blessings. So…our rates are REDUCED! We hope to see you HERE….on this exclusive yet inclusive island that we call home! Thinking outside the box is how humans grow. And I have a kind of gratefulness that Montserrat is definitely outside the box! The good outweighs the not-so…by far!
